The Foodie in me is inspired by my Foodie Pen Pal. I participated in a fun blog party called Foodie Pen Pals. This exciting event is hosted by Lindsay at the Lean Green Bean and will likely leave you inspired too!
Foodie Pen Pals is a great opportunity to hook up with two other people in other parts of the country. It is open to anyone he has a little “Foodie” in them. Each month you are assigned a new Pen Pal to send a package filled with foods of your choice. You get a similar package from a different person who has been assigned to you. You never know what is coming in the mail but I can guarantee you will be inspired.
Often a Pen Pal will fill their box with items from their local area. This month, for example, my Pen Pal, Katherine, lives in Michigan. She sent me HOME MADE oatmeal cookies made with local bing cherries. Yes, they were to die for. She also sent maple syrup from Michigan (I could have drank it straight from the bottle…but I did show some restraint). Thank you Katherine! I LOVED that syrup! A bag of chocolate covered potato chips which my son devoured before I could get any more than a nibble and a gorgeous jar of pesto. In addition, she sent two recipes, including one for the cookies. Well, that is just like having Christmas in May. I have made both of her recipes and they were completely delicious. That is what I mean about being inspired!
This was the second time I participated in the food exchange and I will continue to take part in this fun event. I love taking my time to choose items that are from my area and I love the interesting and fun items that come in our box each month. My kids are into it and so is Doc. Being a Pen Pal is just good fun!
Be sure to head over to the Lean Green Bean to check out all of the incredible food deliveries. Spread the word by posting to Facebook and Twitter. There are already over 800 contestants. I can see where this could grow to be a massive program. Why don’t you sign up? Being a Foodie Pen Pal is sure to make you feel inspired!
