Nutrition

Healthy skin starts from the inside out.  There are some power foods that can help you achieve your goals.  For example some berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and black berries are filled with antioxidants that will help your skin to radiate with health.  Other fruits that have an antioxidant punch are pomegranates and plums.  A diet high in antioxidants and quality nutrition is key to a natural skin care routine.

These fruits listed above are also full of fiber which brings me to my next skin care tip.

Fiber

Keeping your colon cleansed should be part of your natural skin care routine.  High fiber foods are the best way to do this.  Fiber eliminates toxins  and lowers your cholesterol levels at the same time.  Yeah!

Most people only get about half the fiber they need.The recommended daily intake of fiber for adults under the age of 50 is 38 grams for men and 25 grams for women.  For men over the age of 50 it is 30 grams daily and for women over 50 the daily intake should be 21 grams of fiber.

Some easy ways to make sure you get enough fiber is to add healthy fiber rich snacks. Eat an apple a day (3 grams of fiber), a handful of nuts (4 grams of fiber),  switch to whole grain foods. Fiber is an essential part of your natural skin care routine.

Add Healthy Fats

Healthy fats are good for your entire body..   An easy way to get healthy fats and to get fiber too is to eat a handful of nuts per day.  Nuts are a great snack as they are full of fiber, healthy fats and protein.  Some people like to take an Omega-3 fish oil supplement daily.  This is a great way to get your healthy fats. Avocados are also a superior source of healthy fats plus they have a huge fiber content of 14 grams.  That makes the avocado a power house food for a natural skin care routine.

Exercise

Try to exercise every day.  Exercise increases your oxygen flow directly to your cells.  Skin cells need lots of oxygen everyday to replicate and stay healthy.  If you have a time constraint on any given day then try deep breathing exercise and stretching to increase oxygenation to all cells in your body.

Drink Lots of Water

Water washes toxins out of your cells and helps to eliminate them from your body.  Water also helps to cleanse the colon as we spoke of earlier.  Thirty Two ounces of water daily is part of a natural skin care routine.

 

Reduce Stress

Stress triggers and/or exacerbates problems such as acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, cold sores and others.  Stress has a direct impact on the health of our skin.  When our stress levels are at their highest it can actually divert blood flow to other areas of our body, like our heart which is working harder during times of stress.  This deprives our skin from getting the oxygen and nutrients it needs to thrive.

Stress also decreases digestion.  The colon slows down and toxins build up filling your skin cells with impurities.  Further, when we are under stress our bodies are unable to absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat so our skin cells are not getting the nutrition it needs.

Get 8 Hours Of Sleep A Night

When people say “Man, you look tired” they are commenting directly on the condition of your skin. Dark circles appear under your eyes, skin is puffy and sags.  Skin needs sleep to rejuvenate. Sleep is an important part of your natural skin care routine for glowing skin.
