Motivation To the Max: 7 Tips To Inspire

Motivation to the max does not come naturally to me.  I have been told I have a type A personality. You would think motivation isn’t much of a problem for me.  Yet,  I struggle with motivation every single day.  So, I have learned some tips to inspire motivation to the max.

Identify the incentive:  First, figure out what it is you want to accomplish and what the benefit will be.  For example, if you are trying to lose weight the incentive is that you will be able to fit into your skinny jeans.   Ask yourself, “What is it I want?” . Then set your goal.

Keep your goals simple, achievable and measurable.  For example, instead of saying I am going to lose 50 pounds, say  “I am going to eat six small meals a day that are 200 calories each”  Easy, right?

post its Motivation To the Max: 7 Tips To InspireKeep your eye on the goal:  Write your goals down.  Use a journal or a pinboard to keep your goals in front of you .  You can even use Pinterest to keep you inspired! Post a list on the refrigerator or the bathroom mirror, someplace you will see it several times per day.

Positive Self Talk: Every morning get up, look in the mirror and tell yourself  “You can do it”.  Inspire motivation within yourself with positive self talk.   Stick a Post-It “note to self”  in strategic places to remind you of your goal.  A note on the refrigerator might say “Are you really hungry?”  Don’t forget to leave a note that says “you are awesome, you are strong,  you are doing it” and “good job!”

Monitor your progress. Use a checklist or a calendar or journal to document your achievements .

Gather support:  Find someone you trust to support you, inspire you, and hold  you accountable.

Don’t sweat the setbacks:  Everyone makes a mistake, hits a plateau, or doesn’t meet the goal sometimes.  Don’t allow yourself to feel discouraged. Let those setbacks fuel your motivation to continue your quest.

    Great tips Jana! I go through phases when I can stay motivated like it is my mission, but as soon as I let myself get a bit lazy about something it takes everything I have to get going again. I need to start utilizing my calendar for my fitness goals again! Thanks!

      I have a fitness journal that I like to use. It takes motivation to keep it filled out too, though. I do like a good goal with a great incentive to get me moving though.
