Having a Health Buddy in your life is like having a friend with benefits. No, not that kind of friend (I know what you are thinking). I mean a special person, a good friend, who comes along side you to help you with your healthy lifestyle goals. She is your friend who knows you are sitting home at the computer, blogging away, thinking…”I really should go workout”...but don’t.
She calls and says, “I really need to go work out, how about a brisk fall walk tonight?” See, she is tricky. She makes it sound like you are doing her a favor by going on a walk with her, but really it is her doing you a favor. She is smart like that.
So you go and she chooses not a walk, but a climb. Then she proceeds to totally kick your tiny little behind (the one that is literally screaming to get out). But she does not wallow in the fact that she is kicking your butt, she encourages you to keep going. She brings her phone just in case she needs to call 911 to revive you, because she is all about safety and taking good care of you. She is a good friend.
A Health Buddy is someone who knows you fail at your health goals from time to time, but she does not judge you. She has failed before and she needs a Health Buddy to help her stay on track too (even if she can lap you in her sleep). Together you can accomplish anything, stay fit and strong and help each other along. I totally love my health buddy.
When we go for a walk we share everything that our hearts bear. Our hopes, our dreams, our hurts and our great joys. We cover it all, all the while pushing each other to walk faster, work harder and get a good workout. There are no shortcuts, no slowing down. We look up the hill, then at each other and say, ” We can do it, let’s go”. Then we go, talking about our kids sporting activities or date night with our hubbies, our plans for the future, until we are breathing to hard to talk anymore.
My health buddy is a friend first but she is a friend with benefits, because she truly is a health buddy. She knows who she is. She is reading this post right now…How about 6am tomorrow morning ? Text me if we are on.
As for the rest of you, go…call your own health buddy, your friend with benefits…and get moving.

You are my Health Buddy Blogger and it is you who tricked me into that walk. HaHaHa! Ditto everything you said but reverse it for me talking about you. Thanks to my Health Buddy! I will txt you!

This is great. I have a neighbor who tricks me the same way..sometimes, I try to trick her. We help each other keep on track.
